Dairi Child Abuser Confession: 'The Pressure of Life Is Beyond Words'

Police have arrested a suspect with the initials RS (52) for allegedly abusing two children until their condition became distressing in Sidikalang, Dairi Regency, North Sumatra. RS claimed he acted because the two victims were naughty.

Initially, Rumondang claimed he cared for the two victims. However, out of anger he tortured the victims with blunt objects found nearby.

“Because of this life pressure. I am the one thinking about everything, providing food and other needs,” he said in a confession video at Dairi Police, as reported by detikSumut on Saturday (22/8/2026).

The abuse and torture, according to him, were carried out because the two victims had made mistakes. He admitted that his method of discipline was wrong.

When the children made mistakes, Rumondang admitted to using objects near him to hit the victims.

“The pressure of this life is beyond words, sir. So for example, if he makes a mistake, whatever is beside me, I use it on him. But actually I care for him, sir,” he said.

Rumondang then explained the objects he typically used to hit the victims, including a broom and a clothes hanger.

The children’s condition had circulated on social media. In the video, the child appeared to be in a distressing state. The victim suffered injuries to the mouth, head and several other parts of the body, allegedly caused by abuse from his caregiver.

In the video, the victim said his father was in prison, while his mother’s whereabouts were unknown.

Dairi Police Public Relations Head, AKP Syahrial Ramadhan, confirmed the alleged torture. The victim with the initials AGP (7) was first found by residents in a distressing condition with injuries suspected to be from abuse.
