Daily Labourer from Ponjong Wanted for Offering Work as Pretext for Sexual Assault
Iwan Ade Saputro, a 33-year-old resident of Ponjong, Gunungkidul, is now a fugitive in a sexual harassment case. The casual daily labourer allegedly deceived a victim who was applying for a job in order to molest her. Iwan was placed on the wanted list by the Yogyakarta Special Region Police based on DPO/12/VII/RES.1.24./2026/Ditreskrimum, issued on 13 July 2026. Police stated the sexual assault was carried out by Iwan at his workplace. “The victim was offered a job as a waitress by the reported party, Iwan,” explained AKBP Verena, Head of the Public Information Subdivision of the Yogyakarta Regional Police Public Relations Division, when contacted on Tuesday (14/7/2026). Iwan is said to have committed the assault under the pretence of checking the victim’s belongings. “The reported party, on the pretext of a job interview, conducted a baggage check by touching the victim’s body,” she continued. Nevertheless, Iwan is not a repeat offender for similar crimes. “He is not a recidivist,” Verena clarified. According to the Yogyakarta Regional Police’s Instagram account @poldajogja, Iwan was born on 12 May 1993. He lives in Sawahan, Ponjong, Gunungkidul. Iwan reportedly works as a casual daily labourer. Police also published a photograph of Iwan. “The suspect is alleged to have committed physical sexual abuse as referred to in Article 6C, subsidiary to Article 6 of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 12 of 2022,” the Yogyakarta Regional Police stated.
