Daily Labourer from Ponjong Wanted for Offering Work as Pretext for Sexual Assault

Iwan Ade Saputro (33), a resident of Ponjong, Gunungkidul, has become a fugitive in a sexual abuse case. The casual day labourer allegedly deceived a victim who was applying for a job before abusing her.

Iwan was placed on the Yogyakarta Regional Police’s wanted persons list (DPO) under reference DPO/12/VII/RES.1.24./2026/Ditreskrimum on 13 July 2026. Police said the sexual abuse was committed by Iwan at his workplace.

“The victim was offered work as a waitress by the suspect (Iwan),” explained AKBP Verena, Head of the Public Information Sub-Division of the Yogyakarta Regional Police’s Public Relations Bureau, when contacted by detikJogja on Tuesday (14/7/2026).

Iwan allegedly committed the abuse under the pretext of inspecting the victim’s belongings.

“The suspect, on the grounds of conducting a job interview, carried out an inspection of the complainant’s belongings by touching her body,” she continued.

Nevertheless, Iwan is not a repeat offender of a similar crime. “Not a repeat offender,” Verena clarified.

Meanwhile, according to the Yogyakarta Regional Police’s Instagram account @poldajogja, Iwan was born on 12 May 1993. He lives in Sawahan, Ponjong, Gunungkidul.

Iwan reportedly works as a casual day labourer. Police have also published a photograph of Iwan.

“The suspect is alleged to have committed physical sexual abuse as referred to in Article 6C, subsidiarily Article 6, of Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 12 of 2022,” the Yogyakarta Regional Police wrote, as quoted by detikJogja on Tuesday (14/7).
