Daikin Distributes 1,000 Basic Food Packages through Annual Roda-Roda Ramadan Social Initiative
Daikin has relaunched one of the company’s annual social initiatives, “Roda-Roda Ramadan,” distributing 1,000 basic food packages to vulnerable community groups. This year’s implementation marks a collaboration between two Daikin companies in Indonesia: PT Daikin Airconditioning Indonesia and PT Daikin Industries Indonesia.
Beyond Pasirranji village in Cikarang, Daikin is also distributing food packages to residents of three social care facilities in the Jakarta area.
“Through the implementation of Roda-Roda Ramadan, we hope to share happiness and tangible benefits with the recipient communities,” stated Budi Mulia, Director of PT Daikin Airconditioning Indonesia and PT Daikin Industries Indonesia. Mulia further stated that the activity is part of the company’s commitment to continue being present and making a positive impact on the surrounding environment and community on a sustainable basis.
As a sustainable social initiative from the company, Roda-Roda Ramadan’s implementation marks the sixth year since the programme commenced. In its execution, various donations covering different regional distribution areas have been conducted to reach communities requiring support.
This year’s implementation, which partly takes place in Pasirranji village, Cikarang Pusat, is not separate from consideration of its proximity to Daikin’s residential air conditioning factory in Indonesia. Located in the Greenland International Industrial Center (GIIC) Deltamas industrial zone in Cikarang, the production facility is recorded as Indonesia’s first full-scale residential air conditioning factory operating under Japanese supervision and quality standards.
“With the distribution of food packages in Pasirranji village, we want to expand the tangible impact of this factory’s presence on the surrounding communities. Not only the provision of quality products and employment opportunities, but also giving attention to vulnerable groups during Ramadan,” Mulia said.
Still part of Roda-Roda Ramadan this year, Daikin is also distributing food packages to three social care facilities housing elderly residents in the Jakarta area. These are Panti Sosial Tresna Werdha Budi Mulia, PSBI Bangun Daya 2, and PSBK Harapan Jaya.
In its implementation, besides distributing food packages, Daikin also invited elderly residents of the care facilities to interact through joint exercise activities. Physical activity combined with social interaction was deliberately designed as a way to show attention and encourage residents of the social care facilities.
Regarding this year’s Roda-Roda Ramadan implementation, Daikin is collaborating with Benihbaik.com. This stems from its reputation as a fundraising and corporate social responsibility platform that facilitates donations for humanitarian, health, education, environmental, and community empowerment issues. This is done to ensure assistance distribution runs smoothly and reaches the right beneficiaries.
Regarding the sustainability of the Roda-Roda Ramadan programme in the future, Mulia stated that the company will continue and also develop various social initiatives for Indonesian communities. This, according to him, is done with the company’s awareness as part of Indonesia’s larger community, given Daikin’s presence in Indonesia has exceeded 50 years.
“It is part of Daikin’s spirit to continue growing in line with the development of Indonesian society. We hope to collaborate with more parties for a larger movement towards Indonesia’s progress,” Mulia concluded.
