Jakarta — Geopolitical tensions are beginning to impact Indonesia’s automotive industry, particularly affecting vehicle component export activities. Although domestic production and demand remain relatively stable, logistics challenges have become a primary concern for industry players.

Sri Agung Handayani, Marketing and Corporate Communication Director of PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM), stated that spare parts shipments to various countries are currently operating normally. However, several markets are beginning to face distribution difficulties due to geopolitical conditions.

According to her, one market being affected is the Middle East region, following escalating tensions between the US-Israel alliance and Iran.

“Spare parts shipments are currently operating normally. Direct shipments from us continue, but what is being impacted is shipments to Saudi Arabia, where the challenge lies in logistics,” said Agung on Monday, 9 March 2026.

The company is now coordinating directly with principals to ensure the distribution chain to destination countries continues smoothly amid uncertain global conditions.

This step is being taken to prevent shipments from experiencing delays that could disrupt spare parts supply in export markets.

“We are currently coordinating directly with principals to ensure that shipments to Saudi Arabia can continue,” she said.

Amid these global dynamics, domestic production activities continue to operate normally. To date, the company has not observed any disruptions to energy supply that could affect production processes.

“Fuel supply is currently unaffected,” Agung added.
