JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The domestic automotive market remains under pressure, prompting a number of manufacturers to adjust their business strategies. The issue of employee efficiency has recently attracted attention amid the slowdown in domestic vehicle sales. However, PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) says the company is currently focusing on sustaining production to meet market needs, both domestically and for export. Marketing Director of PT Astra Daihatsu Motor, Sri Agung Handayani, said the company continues to monitor industry conditions as a whole. Although domestic retail sales have contracted, Daihatsu production is still showing positive growth. She explained that, year to date (YTD) or the period January–April 2026, domestic Daihatsu production reached 93,000 units. The figure is up by about 0.3 percent compared with the same period last year. Not only that, export performance has also risen considerably. “Even now there is an increase in exports compared with last year, namely YTD April production of 42,000 units, up 33 percent against LY,” said Sri Agung. According to her, the main focus at present is to meet market demand so that consumers do not have to wait too long to obtain a vehicle. For reference, retail sales or RS refers to vehicle sales from dealers directly to consumers. Meanwhile, domestic production is one of the indicators of automotive manufacturing activity in the country. Against a challenging market, the rise in export production has become one of the pillars supporting the national automotive industry, including for Daihatsu, which has long been a production base for several models for the global market.
