JAKARTA — PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) recorded a 33 per cent increase in vehicle exports this year, signalling that Indonesia’s automotive industry remains competitively strong in the global market, even as the world economy remains volatile. Marketing Director of PT Astra Daihatsu Motor, Sri Agung Handayani, said the export upswing occurred as demand from key destination countries recovered. Based on the company’s internal data, Daihatsu vehicle exports to April 2026 reached around 42,000 units.

She noted the export improvement shows Indonesian-manufactured vehicles are still trusted by international markets. Several countries have begun to resume orders after they slowed due to global economic pressures in recent times. “In other words, Indonesia’s quality is trusted,” Sri Agung said.

ADM cited the Philippines, Japan, and Peru as among the largest demand sources for vehicles produced in Indonesia. The models contributing most to exports include the Daihatsu Rocky or Toyota Raize, the Agya, and the Town Ace.

Sri Agung explained that the Raize model is the largest contributor, accounting for about 40 per cent of total Daihatsu vehicle exports. The Agya and Town Ace also contribute significantly to total shipments overseas.

In addition to Asia and Latin America, the Middle East market is also beginning to pick up after a one-month distribution interruption. Daihatsu said there are six export destinations in the region: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar. “There was a pause of one month in April, but exports resumed in May,” she said.

Although the Middle East’s share is only around 6 per cent of total exports, the recovery in shipments is seen as a positive signal for demand for Indonesian-produced vehicles globally.

Currently, ADM-produced vehicles have been shipped to dozens of countries across various regions. The company says the total number of export destinations for Indonesian-produced vehicles reaches around 64 countries.

Against the backdrop of global economic challenges and exchange rate fluctuations, export growth is regarded as one of the important pillars supporting the national automotive industry. The performance also strengthens Indonesia’s position as a production and export base for vehicles to international markets.
