Daihatsu Makes Waves at GIIAS, Introducing New Sigra and a Limited 20-Unit Terios Edition
Daihatsu is leveraging the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026 to strengthen its competitiveness amidst intensifying competition within the automotive industry. The Japanese manufacturer is not only launching refreshes for its flagship models but is also showcasing a series of concept cars and electrified vehicles.
Occupying a display area of over 1,900 square metres in Hall 7 of ICE BSD City, Tangerang, PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) has brought a total of 16 vehicles. The main highlights include the launch of the New Sigra, a Terios Special Edition, and the Gran Max Blind Van 1.5, which is now equipped with air conditioning and power steering.
“There are three product refreshes. First, there is the New Sigra, with several updates. Second, there is the Terios Special Edition, which is exclusive to this exhibition, featuring additional accessories,” said Rokky Irvayandi, Marketing Director & Corporate Function Director of PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM), at GIIAS 2026 on Friday (31/07/2026).
“Thirdly, we are also introducing the Grand Max Blind Van 1.500 cc with AC and power steering,” he continued.
The New Sigra is attracting significant attention as a refreshed model within Daihatsu’s Low Cost Green Car (LCGC) seven-seater segment. Although specific details of the changes were not disclosed, the updates aim to maintain the model’s appeal amidst growing competition in the budget MPV market.
Meanwhile, the Terios Special Edition is being marketed in limited quantities only for the duration of GIIAS 2026. Daihatsu is providing only 20 units, featuring exclusive accessories that distinguish it from the regular variant.
In the commercial vehicle segment, Daihatsu has also enhanced the comfort of the Grand Max Blind Van 1.5 by introducing air conditioning and power steering, features that have been widely requested by consumers, particularly entrepreneurs who drive their own vehicles.
“This is to meet the needs of people or business owners who drive themselves, making it more comfortable. It now features power steering and AC,” said Rokky.
Beyond its current commercial lineup, Daihatsu is demonstrating its technological development direction through three concept cars: the Midget X BEV, K-Vision HEV, and K-Open. Additionally, the e-Atrai, which has already been marketed in Japan, was displayed as a representation of Daihatsu’s electric vehicle capabilities.
The Daihatsu booth also features two one-off modified cars resulting from collaborations with Indonesian modifiers, namely the Ayla Modern Vintage and the Gran Max Urban Retro, with only one unit of each produced. Furthermore, two modified-style Rocky Hybrids were displayed to serve as inspiration for visitors.
