DAI Reminds Families of KRL Bekasi Victims to Check for Additional Insurance
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — The Indonesian Insurance Council (DAI) emphasises that victims of the KRL accident at Bekasi Timur Station are protected by mandatory insurance coverage.
The Chairman of the Indonesian Insurance Council (DAI), Yulius Bhayangkara, stated that the basic protection for victims through the mandatory insurance scheme managed by Jasa Raharja is an important part of the public protection system, and the insurance industry fully supports its implementation.
“We ensure that the victims’ rights under the applicable mandatory protection scheme can be fulfilled through the mechanisms prepared by Jasa Raharja,” Yulius stressed in an official statement, quoted on Wednesday (29/4/2026).
At the same time, DAI advises the public or victims’ families to also investigate the possibility of additional protection held by the victims, whether through life insurance, health insurance, personal accident insurance, or protection benefits from the workplace or employer.
DAI affirms that if victims have additional insurance policies outside the mandatory scheme, those additional benefits can potentially be accessed in accordance with the terms and conditions of each policy. In crisis situations like this, member insurance companies are ready to coordinate and support the acceleration of claims services for affected communities.
“The Indonesian insurance industry is on standby to assist. We encourage member insurance companies to be responsive, proactive, and provide ease in the verification and payment processes for valid claims. In times of grief, speed and empathy in service are extremely important,” he continued.
DAI also ensures ongoing coordination with industry players to support the stability of protection services, including if necessary support for handling additional claims from commercial policies or related protections.
