Over the past two days, media outlets have been abuzz with reports that former State-Owned Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan had been designated as a suspect in a case being handled by the East Java Regional Police (Polda Jatim). The reports, originating from several media sources, spread rapidly and sparked public commotion.

In response, Dahlan Iskan's legal team, through Johanes Dipa Widjaja, issued an official clarification to set the record straight.

In a press statement, Johanes firmly stated that to date there has been no suspect designation against his client.

"We have never received any official notification whatsoever from the East Java Police regarding Mr Dahlan Iskan's legal status as a suspect," Johanes emphasised on Tuesday (9 July 2025).

He further noted that no official statement from the police has confirmed the reports. Moreover, upon closer examination of media coverage, not a single statement from the East Java Police declares that Dahlan Iskan has been designated as a suspect.

The legal team further assessed that the issue was deliberately circulated by irresponsible parties with malicious intent to disrupt other ongoing legal proceedings.

According to Johanes, civil litigation and a Suspension of Debt Payment Obligations (PKPU) petition are currently underway at the Surabaya District Court.

"Our client is not a reported party in any criminal case as has been alleged," he added.
