Dahlan Iskan Encourages Entrepreneurs in North Sulawesi

Manado (ANTARA) - The Minister of State-Owned Enterprises for the 2011-2014 period, Dahlan Iskan, has encouraged entrepreneurs in North Sulawesi Province to remain motivated and contribute to regional economic growth.

“Business players in North Sulawesi, particularly those in the export sector, are quite numerous. I remind entrepreneurs not to complain easily, to remain confident, and to rely on smart work rather than mere talk,” said Dahlan in Manado on Thursday.

He explained that business owners are required to be resilient in facing current challenges and uncertain economic conditions.

“On average, exporters in North Sulawesi have been in business for over 10 years, meaning they have experienced many ups and downs, yet it is precisely that which keeps entrepreneurs persevering,” said Dahlan, who is also an entrepreneur himself.

He noted that entrepreneurs must possess tenacity and avoid over-reliance on external assistance to survive intense competition.

“Once a business begins to grow, you must expand your existing operations; do not expand into other fields too early, as that can weaken your primary business,” he said.

In a challenging economic climate, Dahlan stated that the key to success is tangible action on the ground and direct supervision, rather than just theory or excessive meetings.

“A confident mindset is the primary capital for anyone wishing to become a resilient and successful entrepreneur,” he added.

Dahlan also left a message for the youth in North Sulawesi to become entrepreneurs, noting that the potential in the ‘Land of the Swaying Palms’ is immense.
