JAKARTA - PT Dahana has officially penetrated the Australian market through its inaugural export of 18,000 tonnes of ammonium nitrate (AN), the primary raw material for the mining industry.

This step marks the company’s expansion into more competitive global markets.

PT Dahana’s President Director, Hary Irmawan, described this export as a crucial milestone for the company in entering the international market, particularly Australia, which boasts a large mining sector.

According to Hary, Australia was selected as the export destination due to its high demand for ammonium nitrate in mining activities, both open-pit and underground.

This product is used to support the blasting process, which plays an important role in increasing the efficiency and productivity of large-scale mining operations.

On the same occasion, PT Dahana’s Operations Director, Abdul Haris Atbaro, added that this export reflects the company’s readiness not only in terms of production capacity but also quality and compliance with international standards.

The ammonium nitrate export also complements shipments of other products, namely 250,000 kilograms of Product Package Emulsion, which was earlier received in the international market in April 2026.

Meanwhile, East Kalimantan’s Fertiliser Risk Management Director, Teguh Ismartono, assessed that this export opens up broader market opportunities for national industrial products.

Bontang Mayor Neni Moerniaeni hopes that the export will also drive regional economic growth and improve the welfare of the local community.

Based on BPS data, on a monthly basis, Indonesia’s export value in February 2026 reached 22.17 billion US dollars, up 1.01 percent from February 2025.

Where the oil and gas export value was recorded at 1.08 billion US dollars, down 4.25 percent, while non-oil and gas exports reached 21.09 billion US dollars, up 1.30 percent.

The increase in February exports on an annual basis was mainly driven by rises in several commodities.

Then nickel and its derivatives rose 74.84 percent with a contribution of 1.84 percent, and machinery and electrical equipment rose 28.43 percent with a contribution of 1.21 percent.

In February 2026, non-oil and gas exports of 21.09 billion US dollars were dominated by the processing industry sector at 18.55 billion US dollars.
