Dadan Named Suspect, DPR Commission IX Members Perplexed by BGN Electric Motorcycle Procurement
Irma Suryani Chaniago, a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Commission IX and Chairperson of the NasDem Party, has highlighted the alleged corruption case involving former leaders of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). Irma stated that Commission IX was entirely unaware of the procurement of electric motorcycles, tablets, televisions, shoes, and other items.
“Regarding the programs for electric motorcycles, tablets, TVs, shoes, and so on, we in Commission IX had no knowledge whatsoever,” Irma told reporters on Friday (5/6/2026). She noted that the BGN never consulted with the commission regarding these procurements, and the committee only became aware of them after they went viral on social media. She added that had these items been proposed in the Budget Execution Plan (RKA), the commission would have rejected them.
“To be honest, we in Commission IX are confused by the existence of programs for electric motorcycles, shoes, socks, tablets, and TVs, as reported by the media,” she continued. While the commission initially planned to summon BGN officials for a hearing to seek clarification, they have not yet been able to convene a formal meeting.
Despite the controversy, Irma declined to comment further on the ongoing legal proceedings, stating that the matter should be left to law enforcement. She noted that during the upcoming 2027 RKA discussions, the commission would have the opportunity to meet the new BGN leadership. She expressed hope that the new leadership would evaluate the management of human resources and the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) to ensure the success of President Prabowo Subianto’s priority Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme.
The Attorney General’s Office has named three former BGN officials as suspects: former Head of BGN, Dadan Hindayana, and former Deputy Heads, Sony Sonjaya and Lodewyk Pusung. The trio is alleged to have intervened in the verification process of BGN’s partner portal to ensure that foundations owned by them passed qualification despite being ineligible. Furthermore, the suspects are allegedly affiliated with several SPPGs, through which certain foundations received billions of rupiah daily. The Attorney General’s Office also revealed that the suspects engaged in budget markups for goods and services unrelated to field needs, including the procurement of 21,801 electric motorcycles and 32,000 pairs of shoes, with the budget inflation reaching an estimated Rp 1 trillion.
