Dadan Hindayana's Array of Awards: Recently Awarded Bintang Jasa Utama, Now Dismissed
The tenure of Dadan Hindayana as the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has officially come to an end after President Prabowo Subianto dismissed him from the post on Tuesday, 2 June 2026. The decision was announced by the Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta.
Dadan’s removal has become a focal point of public scrutiny because it occurred shortly after he received one of the nation’s highest honours. Known as an academic and entomology expert, he had recently been conferred the Bintang Jasa Utama by the President of the Republic of Indonesia in 2026.
Dadan Hindayana was the inaugural Head of the BGN, leading the agency since his inauguration by the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, on 19 August 2024. During his approximately one year and nine months in office, he was tasked with overseeing various strategic government programmes regarding public nutrition, including the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme, which is a national priority.
The decision to replace the BGN leadership has prompted various reactions, given Dadan’s long-standing track record in education, research, and public service.
