Jakarta, VIVA – The Deputy Chairman of Commission IX of the House of Representatives (DPR) from the PDIP faction, Charles Honoris, has spoken out regarding the designation of suspects and the detention of the former Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dependant Hindayana, along with two former deputies, Sony Sanjaya and Lodewyk Pusung. He stated that he respects the legal process currently being undertaken by the Attorney General’s Office.

“We respect the legal process being conducted by the Attorney General’s Office,” Charles said when confirmed on Wednesday, 3 June 2026.

Charles emphasised that the case involving the former BGN leadership should serve as a momentum for reforming the governance of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme. “The most important thing now is to use this case as a momentum to overhaul the MBG governance comprehensively,” he said.

According to him, the MBG programme involves a significant budget, necessitating strict supervision and transparency. He expressed hope that similar incidents would not recur in the future. “Programmes with large budgets must be supported by strong oversight, transparency, and strict accountability so that legal issues such as this do not repeat themselves in the future,” he added.

It is reported that the former Head of the National Nutrition Agency, Dadan Hindayana, has been named a suspect in an alleged corruption case involving mismanagement in the governance of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme for the 2025-2026 period. In addition to Dadan, his two deputies, Sonny Sanjaya and Lodewyk Pusung, acting as Deputy Chairmen of the BGN, have also been named suspects.

“Following a series of examinations where Mr DH, Mr SS, and Mr LP were interrogated as witnesses, and based on sufficient evidence obtained by the investigative team, the investigators have designated them as suspects,” said the Director of Investigation at the Attorney General’s Office’s Special Crimes Division, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, during a press conference at the Attorney General’s Office in Jakarta on Wednesday, 3 June 2026.

The three individuals were seen being escorted by investigators to a detention vehicle, wearing pink detainee vests and handcuffed. “The suspects are currently being detained for the next 20 days at the Salemba Detention Centre, under the jurisdiction of the Attorney General’s Office and the South Jakarta District Attorney’s Office,” he added.
