Daan Mogot Road Traffic Management to Continue Until 2027, DKI DPR Calls for Increased Public Transport

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — William Aditya Sarana, a member of the PSI faction in the Jakarta DPRD, has urged the Jakarta Provincial Government to increase Transjakarta and JakLingko fleets during traffic management measures and road closures on Daan Mogot Road in Cengkareng, West Jakarta, which will last until 2027.

According to William, the traffic management measures due to the pump water system construction project must be carefully planned to avoid worsening congestion on Daan Mogot Road, which is already heavily congested.

“It will inevitably cause traffic jams, so mitigation measures are essential to prevent them from becoming too severe. Especially if the closures proceed as planned, they could last until next year,” William said in a WhatsApp confirmation on Monday, 25 May 2026.

“Along Daan Mogot Road, there are Transjakarta services and JakLingko minibuses. During the construction period, their services could be increased,” he added.

William argued that the public cannot simply be asked to reduce private vehicle use without adequate public transport alternatives.

He also stressed the need for the pump water system project to be completed on time and not prolonged, as Daan Mogot Road is already notorious for chronic congestion even without the project.

“Residents suffer every time they pass through it day after day,” William said.

Previously, the Jakarta Transport Agency implemented traffic management measures on Daan Mogot Road for the pump water system construction project, running from 7 January 2026 to 6 August 2027.

“Road users are advised to avoid the affected sections and comply with traffic arrangements, road signs, on-site officer instructions, and prioritise road safety,” said Ujang in a statement on Wednesday, 13 May 2026.

Work locations are at several points along Daan Mogot Road, including Depag Pump House, KM 13 Pump House, KM 13A Pump House, and KM 13B Pump House.
