Czech Premier scheduled to visit Jakarta on Oct. 3

JAKARTA (JP): Czech Prime Minister Vaclav Klaus is scheduled to make a three-day state visit to Indonesia on Oct. 3 at the invitation of President Soeharto.

Klaus will be accompanied by his deputy prime minister, the deputy foreign minister, and the deputy minister for industry and trade along with an entourage of over 50 businessmen, the Czech embassy here announced.

The purpose of the trip is to further improve political and economic ties between the two countries. Representatives from the two governments are also scheduled to sign an agreement on the issue of double taxation during the visit, according to the embassy.

Upon completion of his visit, Klaus will fly to the Philippines on the next leg of his tour.

The visit comes on the heel of a state visit in July by Prime Minister Josef Moravic of Slovakia, the other half of the former state of Czechoslovakia, which broke into two states in January 1993. (mds)
