Czech Embassy helps orphans
JAKARTA (JP): The Embassy of the Czech Republic handed over a donation worth about Rp 30 million in the form of food stuffs, shoes and clothes to 100 orphans to help them through the prolonged crisis.
The donation was handed over by Czech Ambassador to Indonesia Milan Sarapatka and PT Bata Indonesia's president G.L. Zanacco to the orphans on Sunday.
"We initially planned to hold a Czech National Day, but changed our mind by giving the fund to help the Desa Putra Orphanage," Martin Curda of the embassy said.
Curda was quoted by Antara as saying that the Embassy of the Czech Republic had not put on any special party to commemorate the national day, which fell on Oct. 28.
In cooperation with shoe manufacturer PT Bata Indonesia, the embassy gathered the shoes, clothes and food stuffs for the children of the orphanage located on Jl. Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, he said. (hhr)
