A cylinder explosion occurred at the PT Raw Botanical Nusantara factory in the Candi Industrial Estate (KIC), Ngaliyan District, Semarang, Central Java. One employee was killed and seven other workers suffered burns in the incident.

The deceased victim has been identified as Muhammad Bryan Febryantoro (21), a male resident of Demak. He has been evacuated and taken to the hospital, according to Ngaliyan Police Chief Kompol Aliet Alphardt at the scene.

Alphardt noted that the impact of the explosion caused part of the factory’s brick wall to collapse. Police received a report around 10:00 WIB regarding an explosion from a sterilisation cylinder at the plant. He stated that authorities are still investigating the exact nature of the factory’s operations.

“We received information about a sterilisation cylinder explosion, followed by a fire. One victim died, and there are seven burn victims. The victims’ conditions range from minor to moderate burns,” he explained.

According to Alphardt, the explosion was triggered by high pressure due to the hot weather, causing the sterilisation cylinder to suddenly burst. He added that initial information suggests the factory’s products are exported.

Meanwhile, Semarang City Fire Department Deputy Platoon Commander Bambang Setiawan said his team received the report around 10:00 WIB. He confirmed that approximately seven to eight victims were seriously injured but had already been evacuated by local personnel using a pickup truck, noting visible blood and tissue at the scene.
