JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Country Manager of the cybersecurity company Cyble, Rangga F, believes that around 40 per cent of the success of an organisation’s digital resilience is determined by the human resources factor.

In fact, the urgency of enhancing human resources as a determinant of cybersecurity success for a company or organisation is higher than technology itself.

“Going forward, the private sector must play an active role in the human resources aspect of cybersecurity within an information technology department. Why? Because nowadays, let alone talking about technology, when it comes to external communication (public), marketing, social media, can it be done today without the involvement of security personnel (cybersecurity)?,” said Rangga during the Shaping Secure Data Intelligence for Digital Resilience event on Thursday (23/4/2026).

Currently, strategic industries have already adopted the Internet of Things (IoT), drones, and artificial intelligence (AI).

Rangga expressed surprise at the testimony of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi), Ismail, who stated that business companies with primarily digital products still view cybersecurity as a cost or expense. However, the impact of cyber attacks today is already highly destructive.

“We don’t need to say that there is a threat that Indonesia could go bankrupt (due to cyber attacks). Even just the threat to trust, data leaks and so on, that’s something we can’t quantify. Not to mention ransomware,” said Rangga.

Ismail touched on the fact that many companies in Indonesia still lack a cybersecurity culture to protect the data they manage from potential leaks.

He urged Indonesian companies to change their paradigm in viewing cybersecurity, from merely a cost to an investment. Especially since cybersecurity can be a long-term investment for companies to safeguard reputation, revenue, and business sustainability.

In the long term, Komdigi must dare to invest in the cybersecurity field. This is considering that not all needs can be handed over to business actors, as there are investments that are too large for companies to bear alone. One of them is investment in producing national digital talent.

“In certain case conditions, the government should also be ready to make investments. Because not a few activities that cannot possibly wait for investments from operators or business actors. Why? Because the cost might be too high,” said Ismail.

“This is a heavy task,” said Ismail.
