Denpasar (ANTARA) – Cyberattacks are among the risks that could cripple services and disrupt business operations as artificial intelligence (AI) advances rapidly.

“Decisions made by leaders today will determine where their organisations stand in the coming years. AI is changing the way businesses operate, while cyber threats and emerging technologies are also changing the risks they face,” ITSEC Asia President Director Patrick Dannacher said at Bali Tech Week (BTW) 2026 in Denpasar, Bali, on Wednesday.

Patrick said developments in AI and cyber threats are changing the risks companies must consider in order to ensure business continuity.

These developments require clear decisions on the priorities, investments and capabilities organisations need to address the AI era.

“Cybersecurity must be the foundation for innovation and AI adoption, backed by sustained investment in human resources, infrastructure and technology,” Edwin said.

According to Edwin, Indonesia needs to strengthen its digital talent pool and foster collaboration among government, industry, academia and civil society.

Meanwhile, National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) Deputy Chief Slamet Aji Pamungkas said digital transformation and innovation could not be sustainable without cybersecurity.

“We can talk about AI, digital transformation, innovation and the future of technology. But none of these ambitions can be pursued sustainably without cybersecurity,” Slamet said.

Slamet said security must be incorporated at every stage of digital development, from system design to technology adoption. Strengthening cyber resilience, meanwhile, is a shared responsibility of government, industry, academia and the public.
