YOGYAKARTA — Cyber University has partnered with Kinobi by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen students’ career readiness in response to the changing needs of the workplace. The signing took place at Hotel Sahid Raya Yogyakarta on Friday (9 October), alongside the 7th APTIKOM National Conference.

Cyber University was represented at the signing by its Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr Agus Trihandoyo, DEA, while Kinobi was represented by Market Development Lead Dila Paramita. The two parties signed the MoU as a step towards strengthening the relationship between higher education and industry requirements.

Advances in digital technology and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) are changing what industries expect from workers. This is prompting universities not only to equip students with academic knowledge, but also to help them develop practical skills and prepare for recruitment. Through the partnership, Cyber University and Kinobi aim to connect learning with students’ career needs.

Cyber University Vice-Rector Dr Agus Trihandoyo said universities needed to link academic learning with the competencies sought by industry.

“For Cyber University, higher education must bridge the knowledge students gain in the classroom with the competencies required by industry,” Dr Agus said in a statement issued on Thursday (15 October).

The partnership gives Cyber University the opportunity to enhance its student career services with Kinobi’s technology. Collaboration will cover the development of a career information system, support with CVs and professional profiles, access to internship and job vacancies, and training to prepare students for entering the workforce. The parties may also develop systems for managing graduate career data to support educational evaluation.

Dr Agus said the partnership with Kinobi could further strengthen student career services through technology and more structured guidance.

“Our partnership with Kinobi creates opportunities to strengthen the student career development ecosystem through technological support and a more structured approach. We want to ensure that the learning experience, internship programmes and preparation for entering the workforce are connected, so that Cyber University graduates are better prepared for changing industry needs,” he said.

The partnership could also complement Cyber University’s Company Learning Program (CLP) 3+1, which combines three years of study with one year of industry internship. With career development technology, students can prepare their CVs, understand recruitment processes and map out career opportunities from their time at university through to their internships. This is intended to align career preparation with learning and practical experience in industry.

Kinobi offers a range of technology solutions to support student career development, including AI-powered CV writing, access to job and internship portals, and data management through graduate tracer studies. These services could help students find employment opportunities while enabling Cyber University to monitor its graduates’ career progress more systematically.

Through the MoU, Cyber University, which describes itself as “Shaping Future Digital Leader”, aims to strengthen the connection between higher education and workplace needs through career development technology. The collaboration with Kinobi is expected to help students plan their career paths while they are studying and provide the university with information to evaluate and improve its career services and the relevance of its teaching to industry needs.
