Customs Seize 812,000 Illegal Cigarettes in Bogor and Depok During Parcel Service Inspections
BOGOR - Bogor Customs has seized 812,000 illegal cigarettes during inspections at several parcel service companies (PJT) in Bogor Regency and Depok City. The operation, conducted from 8 to 10 May 2026, aimed to disrupt the distribution of illegal excisable goods through logistics channels.
Bogor Customs Head Chotibul Umam stated that the action began with analysis and monitoring of suspicious shipping activities. Officers inspected parcels suspected of containing illegal cigarettes.
During checks at multiple parcel service companies, officials found thousands of cigarettes without official excise stamps intended for delivery within Bogor Customs’ jurisdiction.
“Total seizures amounted to 812,000 illegal cigarettes. The goods are valued at approximately Rp 1.2 billion, with a prevented potential state revenue loss of Rp 612 million,” said Umam.
Umam added that the operation reflects Customs’ commitment to eradicating illegal cigarette circulation and safeguarding state revenue from excise duties. Customs will continue enhancing monitoring of goods distribution channels, particularly through parcel service companies often used for smuggling illegal cigarettes.
