Customs Provides Temporary Import Facilities to Support Tour de Bintan 2026
Tanjungpinang Customs is providing temporary import facilities to support the smooth organisation of the Tour de Basting 2026. This customs facility is granted to goods brought by participants from abroad to be used during the international cycling event and subsequently returned outside the customs area.
The Tour de Bintan 2026 will be held again in the Lagoi Bay area, Bintan Regency, Riau Islands, from 21 to 23 August 2026, after a hiatus of several years. This sport tourism event is expected to attract approximately 800 participants from 42 countries and serves as an international activity that promotes Bintan’s tourism to the global market.
In organising the event, Tanjungpinang Customs plays a role in providing customs services and supervision for goods brought into the country by international participants. Through the temporary import facility, goods required for the competition can enter Indonesia for a specific period without being treated as permanent imports, provided that all applicable terms and conditions are met.
Temporary import is a customs facility that allows goods from outside the customs area to be brought into Indonesian territory for use for a certain period and then re-exported. This facility can be utilised to support temporary international activities, including sports, exhibitions, conferences, or similar events.
For the Tour de Bintan 2026, this facility provides ease for international participants bringing necessary equipment for the race. With more streamlined and directed customs services, the entry process for goods can proceed smoothly without neglecting supervisory aspects.
The Head of the Tanjungpinang Customs Office, Joko Pri Sukmono Dwi Widodo, stated that providing temporary import facilities is part of Customs’ support for international activities within its jurisdiction.
“We are committed to providing optimal customs services to support the smooth running of the Tour de Bintan 2026. Through the temporary import facility, participants’ goods can enter and be used during the event while still adhering to customs regulations and supervisory aspects,” he said.
These services will be implemented from the preparation stage until the conclusion of the event. Tanjungpinang Customs ensures that incoming goods receive services in accordance with regulations while simultaneously conducting supervision to ensure the facility is used as intended.
The presence of the Tour de Bintan 2026 is not only a sporting competition but also part of the effort to develop sport tourism in Bintan. With participants from various countries, the event serves as a means to introduce Bintan as a tourist destination and has the potential to impact the hospitality, transport, culinary, and various local economic sectors. The local government has positioned the Tour de Bintan as an international event that supports regional tourism promotion.
