Customs Officials Foil Smuggling of 265 Grams of Gold Worth Rp700 Million to India

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TANGERANG – Officials displayed the gold granules as evidence during a press release regarding the foiling of gold smuggling to India at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Customs Office, Tangerang, Banten, on Monday (11/5/2026). The Directorate General of Customs, together with police and Aviation Security (Avsec) at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, successfully thwarted and seized 265.7 grams of gold granules with a purity of more than 90 percent, valued at Rp700 million, which was intended to be smuggled to India by hiding it in the undergarments worn by the perpetrator, an Indian national.
