Customs Officer Reveals Import Bribery Funds Stored in Cars and Safe Houses
During a session at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Wednesday (3/6/2026), a Customs official, Fillar, testified regarding the storage of bribe money received from defendants associated with Blueray Cargo (Group). The defendants include John Field, leader of Blueray Cargo; Dedy Kurniawan Sukolo, Operational Manager of Custom Clearance at the Port; and Andri, Head of the Import Documentation Team.
Prosecutors questioned Fillar on why the money received from the defendants was stored inside a vehicle. Fillar explained that the money was kept in the car because it was deemed secure and allowed for rapid access if needed. He stated that the instruction to find a location that was both safe and accessible was issued by Orlando Hamonangan, the Head of the Customs Intelligence Section I within the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation. Orlando has also been named a suspect in this case but has not yet been brought to trial.
Further questioning by prosecutors explored other storage methods used during the tenures of officials Orlando and Sugeng. Fillar testified that funds were also stored in safe houses. While the term ‘safe house’ was reportedly used during the era of Sisprian Subiaksono, Fillar claimed he did not know the specific locations of these sites, noting that the information regarding the existence of these safe houses came from an individual named Salisa.
In this case, KPK prosecutors have indicted three leaders of Blueray Cargo in connection with a bribery scandal involving the importation of goods through the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC). Prosecutors allege that the three defendants provided 61.3 billion IDR in Singapore Dollars, in addition to luxury goods and facilities valued at approximately 1.8 billion IDR.
