Customs Officer Ahmad Dedi Flees to Avoid Journalists After KPK Examination

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) examined Ahmad Dedi (AD), an employee of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise under the Ministry of Finance, in a case of alleged bribery in the importation of goods and gratifications on Friday (8/5). KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that investigators are delving into the allegations of Ahmad Dedi receiving money from PT BR during the examination. Budi did not specify the amount of money allegedly received by Dedi. “There is an allegation of receipt by the individual in handling customs or the importation of goods. This will continue to be explored in relation to those statements, including those that emerge in the trial, which will enrich the investigators,” Budi said to reporters at his office in Jakarta on Friday (8/5). Ahmad Dedi was seen attending the examination. He fled to avoid journalists and ran away from the KPK building after the examination. Dedi refused to respond to questions from the media. On that occasion, Budi said that the KPK also scheduled the examination of a witness with the initials HP today. However, the individual did not attend. “Of course, the investigators will consider the next steps, whether to reschedule, coordinate, or issue a second summons. We will wait for developments,” he said. Meanwhile, the KPK has named seven people as suspects in the alleged bribery and gratifications case that implicates officials from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. They are former Director of Investigation and Enforcement of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise for the period 2024-January 2026, Rizal; Head of the Subdirectorate of Enforcement Intelligence and Investigation of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (Kasubdit Intel P2 DJBC), Sisprian Subiaksono. Then Head of the Customs and Excise Intelligence Section of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (Kasi Intel DJBC), Orlando; Chairman of the PT BR Import Documents Team, Andri; Customs and Excise Directorate General Employee, Budiman Bayu Prasojo; Owner of PT Blueray, John Field; and PT BR Operational Manager, Dedy Kurniawan. Three suspects from the private sector in the case underwent prosecution hearings at the Corruption Crimes Court (Tipikor) at the Central Jakarta District Court (PN) on Wednesday (6/5).
