Customs Office Seizes 816,100 Illegal Cigarettes in Bengkulu Province
The Bengkulu Customs and Excise Office (KPPBC) Type Madya Pabean C Bengkulu has conducted enforcement actions resulting in the seizure of 816,100 illegal cigarettes within the Bengkulu Province province from January to May 2026. In addition to the cigarettes, authorities seized 569.20 litres of alcoholic beverages (MMEA), 2.6 grams of synthetic cannabinoids, and various psychotropic tablets including Alprazolam, Esilgan, and Cloazepam.
βThe total value of the seized goods reached Rp1.41 billion, with potential state losses saved amounting to Rp858.20 million,β stated the Head of KPPBC Bengkulu, Nazwar, in Bengkulu City on Friday. He noted that most of the illegal cigarettes, alcoholic beverages, and other items were intercepted from goods expeditions arriving from outside the province, often using delivery services and online purchasing methods.
Despite the large-scale seizure of thousands of illegal cigarettes in the province, KPPBC Bengkulu remains committed to strengthening customs and excise supervision and law enforcement to protect state revenue and public safety. To this end, Nazwar explained that the office continues to conduct joint operations with relevant agencies to suppress the circulation of illegal cigarettes in the region.
He urged all traders in Bengkulu Province to refrain from selling illegal cigarettes, noting that they are not only hazardous to health but also detrimental to the state and can result in fines amounting to millions of rupiah. It is reported that between October 2024 and early December 2025, a total of 5,395,452 illegal cigarettes and 1,180 litres of alcoholic beverages were seized in the province. The illegal cigarettes were most frequently discovered in Mukomuko, Rejang Lebong, Kaur, North Bengkulu, and Bengkulu City.
