Customs Inspects 82 Private Yachts in Ancol, Here Are the Findings!
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Jakarta Customs is now inspecting 82 private yachts currently in the waters and docked at Batavia Marina pier on Tuesday (17/3/2026).
The Head of the Jakarta Customs Region Office, Hendri Darnadi, emphasised that the inspection is part of efforts to optimise state revenue from the circulation of luxury goods, eradicate the underground economy, and uphold fiscal equity for citizens.
“The lower class, SMEs, and even those buying motorcycles for their work, such as online motorcycle taxi drivers, still pay duties and taxes, fulfilling their obligations on the motorcycles they purchase. Shouldn’t those buying high-value goods and luxury items pay according to their obligations?” said Hendri Darnadi, quoted from an official statement.
His side will ensure whether the owners have fulfilled the formal permissions and customs obligations for those ships. Among the yachts, some are suspected of not complying with import and customs regulations through modes of temporary import or using foreign flags.
From the inspection of foreign tourist ships at the Batavia Marina pier in Ancol, it was recorded that there are 82 yachts anchored, with details of 48 flying the Indonesian flag and 34 flying foreign flags. From statements by several captains/ship crew, information was obtained that for 15 yachts flying foreign flags, 9 units are owned by Indonesian citizens. There are also 6 units owned by companies in Indonesia.
There is also a yacht named “So Say” with VD IN permission that has exceeded 3 years and is currently sealed by the Deputy Chief of Special Crimes at the Attorney General’s Office. The 9 foreign-flagged yachts indicated to be owned by Indonesian citizens are Borealis, SSG, Dream Catcher, Juls 84, Rini, Duchessa, Blue Sky, Leopard, and Miranda.
Jakarta Customs is committed to regulating customs and excise for related stakeholders. Such actions will be carried out continuously.
Jakarta Customs will also conduct inspections, at least to check the administration of imported and exported goods, to ensure compliance with regulations. In addition to luxury goods, Jakarta Customs will also focus on efforts to regulate the underground economy.
