The West Sumatra Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise conducted a destruction of excisable goods on Thursday (10/09/2026), involving 44.69 million sticks of illegal cigarettes that had been authorised for destruction.

In addition, the operation included the destruction of 5,893 litres of beverages containing ethyl alcohol, commonly known as illegal alcohol, which had been designated as state property and slated for disposal.

The total value of the destroyed goods reached approximately Rp68.88 billion, with potential state losses in the excise sector estimated at Rp4 Educated44.65 billion.

“Behind these figures lies a collective effort and synergy to protect the public, safeguard state revenue, and create a healthy and fair business climate,” stated the Head of the West Sumatra Regional Office of Customs and Excise, Bier Budy Kismulyanto, during a press conference on Thursday (10/09/2026).

For information, the goods destroyed were the result of enforcement actions taken during the second semester of 2025 and the first semester of 2026 up until June.

Bier Budy emphasised that Customs will continue to maintain consistency in performing its supervisory duties and functions by synergising with relevant agencies.

“We realise that this task cannot be performed alone; therefore, we invite all law enforcement agencies, local governments, the business community, and all elements of society to continue expanding and strengthening synergy in combating the circulation of illegal goods,” he asserted.

Throughout 2026, the West Sumatra Customs regional office has carried out 486 enforcement actions in the Lampung and Bengkulu regions between January and August 2026.

From these enforcement results, authorities seized 47.93 million sticks of cigarettes, 9,429.8 litres of illegal alcohol, as well as narcotics and prohibited drugs, including 106,721 kg of cannabis, 176,157 kg of methamphetamine (shabu), 5,913 kg of etomidate, 15,007 ecstasy pills, 3,100 psychotropic pills, and 2.6 grams of synthetic cannabis.

The West Sumatra Customs Regional Office noted that, as a result of these supervisory and enforcement actions, realised revenue as of 8 September 2026 has reached Rp2.37 trillion, or 101.20% of this year’s target.

This figure consists of import duty payments of Rp174 billion, export duties of Rp2.19 trillion, excise of Rp6.24 billion, and extra efforts amounting to Rp7.17 billion.
