Customs Defendant Weeps, Claims Superiors Pressured Him to Prevent Case from Expanding

Orlando Hamonangan, Head of Customs Intelligence Section I within the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation of Customs, wept during a trial concerning a gratification case. Orlando, also known as Ocoy, broke down while recounting how he was pressured by his superiors to ensure the case did not expand further.

This testimony was provided by Ocoy while serving as a witness for the defendant, Budiman Bayu Prasojo, who serves as the Head of Excise Intelligence Section P2 at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court on Wednesday (16/09/2026). Notably, Ocoy is also a defendant in this case and is being tried under a separate indictment.

Initially, KPK prosecutor M. Takdir Suhan asked Orlando to recount a meeting with Bayu on the second floor of the KPK building. At that time, Bayu had not yet been named a suspect.

Orlando then wept while describing a meeting with Sisprian Subiaksono, the Head of the Intelligence Sub-directorate of the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation of Customs, who is also a defendant in this case. He stated that Sispultrian, acting as his superior, requested that he, as a junior, take the fall for the matter.

“So, what happened after that meeting? Tell us, is now a suitable time for Mr Orlando, because you are both in the same position now,” the prosecutor asked.

“At that time, in the smoking area, I met my superior, Mr Sisprian, and he called me, saying, ‘Coy, don’t let this case expand.’ Because I was the most junior, (he said), ‘Fine, you will bear it all.’ That was it. At that moment, I saw my colleagues being summoned, so I thought, fine, I will step up and sacrifice myself. I then said to Mas Bayu, ‘Brother, please look after my wife and children.’ That was it, Sir,” Orlando replied while crying.

The trial was briefly paused. The judge requested the prosecutor to continue the questioning once Orlando had finished weeping.

“With permission, Your Honours, the reason we are asking this—regardless of the fact that before Mr Orlando became cooperative, there were these moments—is because we are also inquiring about this moment, as you are both currently in the same detention centre. Both from the beginning, and Mr Bayu himself has stated the same, that both are being cooperative,” the prosecutor stated.

Previously, Budiman Bayu Prasojo was indicted for receiving gratifications worth Rp 7.6 billion. Prosecutors stated that the gratifications were received in both Indonesian Rupiah and foreign currencies.
