Customs Combs Jombang Region, Seizes 46,860 Illegal Cigarettes

The Kediri Customs and Excise Office, together with the Jombang Regency Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and the Jombang Regency Communication and Informatics Office, thwarted the distribution of 46,860 illegal cigarettes during a Joint Market Operation (Opsar) held at several locations in Jombang Regency on Thursday (24/6/2026).

The operation, which targeted points suspected of being distribution sites for illegal Excise Taxable Goods in the form of Tobacco Products (BKCHT), successfully secured 46,860 illegal cigarettes of various brands. The estimated value of the seized goods is Rp 70,553,500, with potential state losses prevented amounting to Rp 46,075,936.

Head of the Kediri Customs and Excise Office, Gatot Heroe Hernanda, stated that the enforcement action was the result of synergy between Customs and various related agencies in strengthening supervision over the circulation of illegal excisable goods. “Inter-agency collaboration is key to suppressing the circulation of illegal cigarettes. Through integrated supervision, we not only protect state revenue but also create a healthy and fair business climate,” said Gatot.

He added that Customs will strengthen supervision and increase coordination with local governments, law enforcement officials, and all stakeholders to prevent the circulation of illegal cigarettes in its working area. According to him, this effort is part of Customs’ commitment to safeguarding state revenue while supporting the realisation of Indonesia’s fiscal sovereignty.

All evidence has now been secured at the Kediri Customs and Excise Office for further processing in accordance with the provisions of the applicable laws and regulations.
