Customs Chief to Provide Export Training for PT DSI Staff
Director General of Customs and Excise Djaka Budhi Utama has revealed that his agency will provide training on export and import documentation to employees of PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (PT DSI), the state-owned enterprise designated as the sole exporter of Indonesia’s natural resources.
“Regarding DSI, we are coordinating closely, because DSI’s human resources need guidance or structuring so they can handle imports or exports abroad,” Djaka said during a working meeting with Commission XI of the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Monday (15/6/2026).
Djaka stressed that guidance and training on recording export documents and their completion are very important for PT DSI’s personnel, as the company formed by President Prabowo Subianto will become the single exporter of strategic commodities such as coal, CPO, and ferro alloy.
For the Directorate General of Customs and Excise itself, he affirmed that it will continue to act as the supervisor of the customs area, overseeing all export and import activities as well as compliance with customs obligations. “We will continue to record exports,” Djaka asserted.
The government has begun preparing a major overhaul in the export governance of three key Indonesian commodities. This policy follows Government Regulation Number 24 of 2026, which entered a transition period starting 1 June 2026. Under the new regulation, exports of strategic commodities like CPO will be conducted through PT DSI starting 1 January 2027. During the transition period until the end of 2026, existing exporters can still carry out export activities as usual.
“In accordance with PP 24 and Trade Minister Regulation Number 16, as of 1 June 2026, it is a transition period,” said Trade Minister Budi Santoso at the Ministry of Trade on Monday (8/6/2026). The government explained that during the transition period, exporting companies can still apply for Export Approval and conduct foreign trade activities under current provisions. “Everything remains normal until 31 December; they can still apply for PE. Only after 1 January 2027 will exports be conducted solely by PT DSI,” Budi stated.
