Customs Bribery Defendant Claims He Forgot Giving Friend Rp 100 Million, Deemed 'Too Small'

Blueray boss John Field, testifying as a defendant in a customs import bribery case at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court on Friday (12/6/2026), claimed he forgot giving Rp 100 million to businessman Heri Setiyono, also known as Heri Black, because the sum was ‘too small’.

Field confirmed the statement after prosecutors read out his examination report (BAP) during the trial. “Regarding this matter, if I may, Your Majesty, also in the BAP number 72, there is a note about sales 2 IDR, specifically on page 11, here there is a note about Rp 100 million for Heri. Then, sales 2 calculated per container 2 for Heri, sales 2 for Mr. De John. ‘I know that sales 2 is a code for Customs, but I forgot about giving it because the amount was too small,’” the prosecutor read. Field acknowledged the statement and confirmed that Heri was his business partner.

Field is one of three Blueray Cargo executives charged in the case. KPK prosecutors allege the defendants paid bribes totalling Rp 61.3 billion in Singapore dollars, along with luxury goods and facilities worth Rp 1.8 billion. The bribes were allegedly intended to ensure that imported goods belonging to Blueray Cargo Group would be released more quickly from the supervision of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, in violation of official duties.
