Customs and Police Arrest Courier in Nagan Raya, Uncover Cannabis Supply Network
A joint operation between Lhokseumawe Customs and Excise and Sub-Directorate IV of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim Polri) has resulted in the arrest of a courier in Nagan Raya, Aceh. The suspect, identified only by the initials HH (43), was apprehended in Blang Puuk Village, Beutong Ateuh Banggalang District, on Sunday (26/7/2026), with six kilogrammes of cannabis as evidence.
The operation was a follow-up to an investigation into a network suspected of supplying cannabis to the Lhokseumawe region. Officers seized six kilogrammes of cannabis, a mobile phone, and a motorcycle believed to have been used for drug deliveries.
Vicky Fadian, Head of the Internal Compliance and Counselling Section at Lhokseumawe Customs, stated that the enforcement action stemmed from a public tip-off received in early July 2026 regarding a potential cannabis supply to Lhokseumawe City. The information was jointly developed with Sub-Directorate IV of the Criminal Investigation Unit through continuous intelligence and investigation activities.
Further investigation indicated that the source of the supply was located in Nagan Raya Regency. The joint team then expanded the investigation to the area to verify the information and dismantle the distribution chain. Vicky clarified that the operation in Nagan Raya was not a standalone action but part of a broader investigation originating from the Lhokseumawe Customs working area.
During the operation, officers located a man at a previously monitored site. A search uncovered a bag hidden in the bushes containing six packages of dried cannabis, each weighing approximately one kilogramme. The man was detained along with the evidence. Preliminary investigations suggest the suspect acted as a courier tasked with delivering the cannabis to another party, and investigators are continuing to probe his statements and potential involvement of other individuals.
Vicky highlighted that the successful operation demonstrates the importance of inter-agency synergy in disrupting narcotics distribution networks. He noted that drug trafficking transcends administrative boundaries, necessitating collaboration, information exchange, and joint development among law enforcement agencies. He added that public information was a key factor in the case’s success, and that community participation combined with a swift response from law enforcement is crucial for uncovering wider networks.
The suspect and the evidence have been handed over to Sub-Directorate IV of the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit for further legal proceedings. Authorities are continuing to develop the case to uncover other parties suspected of involvement in the narcotics network.
