Customs and National Narcotics Agency Foil Smuggling of 4,080 Ecstasy Pills via Wedding Dress Package
The Directorate General of Customs and the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) have uncovered the smuggling of methylenediomethamphetamine (MDMA) ecstasy drugs. The goods were smuggled through a package containing a wedding dress.
“We would like to inform you that there was a suspicious package originating from abroad which was declared as a wedding dress,” said Director of Narcotics Interdiction at Customs, R Syarif Hidayat, during a press conference at the Jakarta Customs Office, Wednesday (25/2/2026).
The goods smuggled through the wedding dress package amounted to 4,080 MDMA pills. The smuggled goods weighed 1.9 kilograms.
“And from the tests, it was confirmed to be a type one narcotic of the MDMA or methylenedioxymethamphetamine type. The total amount is 4,080 MDMA pills, or approximately 1.9072 kilograms, which is quite a lot,” he said.
The BNN has arrested one member of the syndicate, with the initials AFZ, in this case. AFZ was arrested in Cikarang Selatan, Bekasi Regency.
“We found a person named AFZ in his boarding house in Cikarang. Specifically, in the Cibatu area, Cikarang Selatan,” said Acting Deputy for Eradication of the BNN, Brigadier General Roy Hardi Siahaan, on the same occasion.
Roy stated that the country has saved at least 4,080 lives after uncovering this case.
“As Mr. Syarif said, we have calculated that there are 4,080 pills, 4,080 MDMA pills. So, if we calculate the total, we can estimate that the country has saved at least 4,080 people from the potential misuse of drugs,” he said.
