State budget performance remained positive through the end of May 2026 amid global uncertainty, with the customs and excise sector recording revenue of Rp123.8 trillion, a 0.7% increase compared to the same period last year. Overall, state revenue reached Rp1,185 trillion, growing 19.1% year-on-year, while state spending recorded an even higher increase of 34.4%. Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa detailed that the customs and excise realisation is equivalent to 36.8% of the state budget target. The excise sector was the largest contributor, with receipts of Rp90.4 trillion, edging up 0.2% year-on-year, driven by increased tobacco production in the first quarter of 2026. Import duties also recorded an impressive performance of Rp21.5 trillion, growing 9.7% year-on-year, supported by a rise in imports of raw materials and auxiliary goods. Meanwhile, export duties contracted 8.9% to Rp11.9 trillion, but began to show improvement as crude palm oil prices strengthened between March and May. On the enforcement side, Customs intensified supervision by carrying out 6,560 operations against illegal cigarettes, a 12.2% increase, and secured 865 million illicit sticks through May 2026. In community protection efforts, Customs also conducted 691 narcotics operations, seizing a total of 3.81 tonnes of evidence. Head of the Customs Public Relations and Education Sub-directorate, Budi Prasetiyo, stressed that these achievements resulted from close collaboration with the public and stakeholders, reinforcing the commitment to safeguarding economic sovereignty and protecting society from the circulation of illegal goods.
