Customs and Excise Revenue Positive, Reaches Rp100.6 T in April 2026

The Indonesian economy continues to demonstrate strong and resilient performance despite high global uncertainty due to tensions in the Middle East, owing to the role of the State Budget (APBN) as an accelerator of economic growth. The Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) revealed that customs and excise play a strategic role both in terms of revenue and supervision. Revenue from the customs and excise sector recorded a positive turning point as of April 2026. Total revenue reached Rp100.6 trillion, contributing 29.9% to the state budget or growing 0.6% year-on-year, influenced by import duty and excise receipts. In more detail, import duty revenue was recorded at Rp16.4 trillion, growing 6.4% year-on-year, driven by an increase in duties from LPG commodities and project needs. Meanwhile, export duty revenue contracted 17.5% year-on-year to Rp9.3 trillion. Despite the contraction, export duty revenue has begun to improve in line with the strengthening of crude palm oil prices in March and April 2026. Excise revenue grew 2.2% year-on-year to Rp74.8 trillion, influenced by an increase in cigarette production in the first quarter. Besides acting as guardian of state revenue, Customs and Excise also plays a role in protecting the public and securing the national economy from illegal goods and smuggling. Up to April 2026, Customs and Excise had conducted 5,451 enforcement actions against illegal cigarettes, resulting in the seizure of 684 million sticks of illegal cigarettes. Additionally, Customs and Excise carried out 522 narcotics enforcement operations with seizures reaching 3.31 tonnes of narcotics. Head of the Public Relations and Outreach Sub-directorate of Customs and Excise, Budi Prasetiyo, stated that this revenue and enforcement performance was inseparable from the participation of stakeholders and the public. “We express our gratitude for the support of all parties, especially the public, for their cooperation in supporting the APBN’s performance. This positive revenue and enforcement performance reinforces Customs and Excise’s commitment to safeguarding revenue, as well as protecting the public and securing the national economy,” concluded Budi.
