Customs and Excise Conducts 11,542 Enforcement Actions Against Illegal Goods up to May
The Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) at the Ministry of Finance has conducted 11,542 enforcement actions against the circulation of illegal goods during the period from January to May 2026. Director General of Customs and Excise Djaka Budhi Utama, speaking during a working meeting with Commission XI of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday, disclosed that the value of the seized illegal goods reached Rp7.71 trillion. “DJBC continues to strengthen its supervisory function through inter-agency synergy to protect the public, support state revenue, and maintain a healthy business climate. Up to May 2026, DJBC has carried out 11,542 enforcement actions with a total goods value of Rp7.71 trillion,” Djaka stated. He detailed that DJBC had undertaken 6,880 enforcement actions up to May 2026 in the illicit cigarette sector, totalling 865 million sticks. “For comparison, throughout 2025 there were 20,537 enforcement actions recorded, with a total of 1.4 billion sticks,” he noted. Furthermore, in the export sector, the number of enforcement actions conducted by DJBC up to May 2026 reached 234 cases, with the value of secured exports amounting to Rp1.14 trillion. Meanwhile, in the import sector, up to May 2026, 4,093 enforcement actions were recorded, with a goods value of Rp5.15 trillion. For narcotics enforcement up to May 2026, Djaka said DJBC had seized 3.81 tonnes of evidence. “These achievements are inseparable from the supervisory synergy with other law enforcement agencies,” Djaka added. On another note, to support various programmes and positive performance, DJBC proposed an indicative budget ceiling for the 2027 fiscal year of Rp2.81 trillion. The breakdown includes Rp4.159 billion to support fiscal policy, financial sector, and economic programmes, Rp749.37 billion for state revenue management programmes, and Rp2.056 trillion for management support programmes.
