Customer reports to law on water service

JAKARTA: A customer reported on Friday the city water company's foreign partner PT Thames PAM Jaya (TPJ) to the Jakarta Police, claiming that he could no longer take the frequent disruptions to service and the poor quality of water.

Suta Widhya, 40, a resident of Utan Kayu Utara, East Jakarta, said he had paid his dues as a customer over the last two years. "But what did I get in return? A tariff hike but no improved service."

His lawyer JJ Armstrong Sembiring said Suta had reported the company for unpleasant conduct and for violating Law No. 8/1999 on consumer rights protection. -- JP
