JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, has spoken out regarding circulating claims of a customer data breach on social media. Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said the company immediately conducted a thorough investigation after encountering the allegations of the data breach. According to Okki, cybersecurity is a serious concern for BNI. The IT Security team has been deployed to conduct ongoing investigations and tight monitoring. The company has taken necessary security measures and coordinated with the relevant authorities. ‘To date, we have found no indications of unauthorized data retrieval or transfer of customer data,’ he told Kompas.com on Friday, 22 May 2026. Okki emphasised that all BNI banking services remain operating normally. Customers can still use BNI services via the Wondr by BNI app, ATMs, or branches. BNI also guarantees its commitment to protecting customers’ personal data in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. The company will continue to strengthen its digital infrastructure and security systems on an ongoing basis. The IT Security team monitors the system closely through periodic strengthening to counter potential cyber security disruptions. BNI also urged customers not to be influenced by information that has not been verified. ‘Customers are also advised to regularly change transaction passwords and PINs to maintain the security of accounts and banking transactions,’ he said.
