Current Situation at Trans Home Fire on Jogja-Solo Road, Smoke Still Billowing
The Trans Home building materials store on the Jogja-Solo Road, Kalitirto Village, Berbah District, Sleman, has been on fire since this afternoon. The shop, located on the roadside, has been largely consumed by flames.
As of 5:00 PM WIB, the fire could not be fully extinguished. Firefighting units from Yogyakarta, Sleman, Klaten, and surrounding areas have been deployed to the scene. Flames are still active on the second floor, with thick black smoke billowing into the air.
Traffic flow has been diverted via alternative routes through the city and Gunungkidlant due to heavy vehicle congestion starting from the area past Bhayangkara Hospital. Dozens of ambulances are on standby at the location, and police water cannons are also present.
To facilitate the firefighting process, the Jogja-Solo road heading towards Yogyakarta has been closed from east of BRI Kalasan for approximately two kilometres to the west.
Residents watching from across the road have contributed to further traffic congestion. Police lines have been erected in the median of the road to prevent unauthorised persons from approaching the site.
The families of the store employees are present at the location to ensure the safety of their relatives. Some are seated on the store’s terrace, waiting for the fire in the three-storey building to be extinguished.
“I saw the smoke immediately and was afraid to save myself. I do not know what the cause is,” said Atik, a local trader at the scene, on Thursday afternoon.
The Trans Home building materials store in Kalitirto Village, Berbah, Sleman, caught fire earlier this afternoon. The extinguishing process is currently ongoing, according to the Head of Kalitirto Village, Ari Hadi.
