Current Situation at Hayam Wuruk Tower Following Raid on Online Gambling Headquarters, Guarded by One Platoon of Brimob
Hayam Wuruk Tower, which served as a base for an international online gambling operation, remains under police guard until Monday afternoon (11/5/2026). On the bench to the left of the entrance, three police officers were seen sitting there. Across from them, around six other police officers were also sitting on plastic chairs and on the walkway leading to a minimarket. Activity in the building appeared normal. Occasionally, people in casual clothing and white uniforms came and went. Security guards in black uniforms were still on duty there. Access to the building is actually quite narrow for pedestrians, as it is blocked by the MRT construction project. The Head of Public Relations for Polda Metro Jaya, Commissioner Pol Budi Hermanto, stated that the guard from Brimob Polda Metro Jaya is still in place there. Budi said the guarding is still being carried out to maintain security in the area following the enforcement action. The guarding is actually not as strict as before. Members of Brimob Polda Metro Jaya, led by Ipda Hamdan, are no longer carrying weapons. βThe presence of personnel at the location is aimed at ensuring the situation remains safe, orderly, and conducive, as well as anticipating potential security and public order disturbances,β he said. One platoon consisting of 30 Brimob personnel has been deployed for a period that has not yet been determined. Budi said the guarding will follow developments in the field situation. Of the 321 people secured, 228 were from Vietnam, 57 from China, 13 from Myanmar, 11 from Laos, five from Thailand, and three each from Malaysia and Cambodia. Police stated that the online gambling activity had been operating for about two months before the raid. During that time, the detained foreigners were known to have been living in several areas around Hayam Wuruk, West Jakarta.
