Current Condition of Ombudsman RI Building Following AG Search Operation

The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) conducted a search operation at the Ombudsman RI office located on Jalan HR Rasuna Said in South Jakarta. The Ombudsman office was under heavy security.

As observed by detikcom at the location at 11:20 WIB on Monday, 9 March 2026, several TNI military personnel were stationed in the yard of the Ombudsman RI building. The lobby of the Ombudsman office appeared empty and quiet.

Access to and from the building was restricted. The gate, which is normally open, was now closed by building security personnel.

Kejagung’s Public Relations Head Anang Supriatna stated that the search operation was still ongoing. He did not specify which rooms were being searched.

“It is still ongoing,” Anang told journalists.

The search operation was conducted in relation to a bribery case involving a dismissal verdict in a palm oil case. The search was conducted following recommendations issued by the Ombudsman regarding palm oil shortage from several years ago.

“It is true that there is a search operation at the residence of one of the Ombudsman commissioners and at the office today,” said Anang.

However, Anang did not disclose the specific name of the Ombudsman commissioner in question. Anang confirmed that the search operation concerned an Ombudsman recommendation that was used by a palm oil company in a legal challenge at the State Administrative Court. The search operation was still continuing.

“The person is charged under Article 21 concerning obstruction of investigation and prosecution in the palm oil case that had been dismissed in that decision,” Anang explained.
