Current Condition of Kalijodo RPTRA Following Viral Reports of Alcohol Bottles and Illegal Parking Fees
The Kalijodo Integrated Child-Friendly Public Space (RPTRA) and Green Open Space (RTH) in West Jakarta recently went viral on social media after the discovery of alcohol bottles and illegal parking fees of Rp 10,000. Currently, the RPTRA area appears cleaner, and there are no longer individuals intercepting visitors to demand entry tickets.
Observations at the site on Friday (18/09/2026) show that the entrance to RPTRA Kalijodo is located on Jalan Kepanduan I. Tents, similar to those seen in the viral video used as makeshift ticket booths, are still positioned at both ends of Jalan Kepanduan I. However, no personnel were seen guarding the location this afternoon.
Furthermore, there are no longer traces of alcohol bottles around the ‘joglo’ area. Today, officers from the Parks Department were seen painting and cleaning toilet facilities, which had also previously been criticised for being in disrepair. Additionally, the skateboard area, which went viral due to scattered litter, has been cleaned. Meanwhile, the ‘dangdut’ entertainment area remains set up in the joglo, with lighting and sound systems neatly arranged.
A number of MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) traders at the location appear to be operating normally within the RPTRA, with some stalls open and others closed.
The Chairperson of RW 5, Suryana (also known as Jiung), stated that he was unaware of the origin of the alcohol bottles found in RPTanya Kalijodo. He suggested that the bottles could have been brought in by irresponsible outsiders.
“Regarding the alcohol, I am doubtful about those old photos. We cannot be certain where people bring such items from. When we conduct checks for weapons or alcohol, we confiscate them if found. Sometimes, they manage to slip through, which is baffling,” said Jiung.
Jiung added that RPTRA Kalijodo is open 24 hours a day, and activities often continue late into the night, meaning rogue individuals may occasionally cause issues. “It is possible that someone drinks outside first and then enters to dance. They arrive at the entertainment venue after having already consumed alcohol elsewhere. It could be anyone,” he added.
Previously, the presence of alcohol bottles and alleged illegal levies drew significant public attention to the Kalijodo area, resurfacing old narratives regarding the district. The footage emerged after a video went viral on social media, highlighting the condition of the RPTRA and RTH Kalijodo. For reference, RPTRA Kalijodo is located in the Tambora area of West Jakarta, while RTH Kalijodo falls under the Penjaringan area in North Jakarta.
