The Indonesian Minister of Culture (Menbud), Fadli Zon, conducted a field inspection at the Indonesia Indicator operational office in Parigi Baru, Pondok Aren, South Tangerang. The visit aimed to strengthen synergy in utilising technology and data analysis to support the development of a data-based national culture ecosystem. Fadli Zon and his entourage were welcomed by the Indonesia Indicator’s Chief Executive Officer, Muhammad Ridwan Prasetyarto, and Indonesia Indicator’s Director of Communications, Rustika Herlambang. During the occasion, Fadli Zon expressed appreciation for the support and collaboration given in strengthening data-based governance of culture. He asserted that the presence and role of technology are an integral part of progress in the era. ‘This is an important matter for us and indeed an inseparable part of progress in time and technology. We also thank you for the support in compiling data mapping and developing the cultural dashboard which I believe will be very beneficial for promoting culture in the future,’ Fadli Zon said in a statement on Wednesday (4/3/2026). Moreover, Fadli Zon noted that technology utilisation, including artificial intelligence and digital scanning, can be a breakthrough in supporting revitalisation and safeguarding of cultural heritage. He cited the application of digital modelling systems to identify and reconstruct parts of heritage buildings more quickly and precisely, akin to assembling data-based puzzle pieces. He added that this approach should be complemented by in-depth discussions with experts to ensure its implementation is precise and has wide impact, while also becoming part of a grand strategy to make Indonesian culture more visible globally. Indonesia Indicator is a company engaged in Big Data analysis and the development of monitoring and mapping systems based on information technology. For the Ministry of Culture (Kemenbud), this collaboration is part of the data-based governance transformation, including strengthening the cultural data integration system into a single comprehensive dashboard. This instrument is expected to form the basis for policy formulation that is more precise, responsive, and adaptive to social dynamics. The visit underscored Kemenbud’s commitment to leveraging technological advances as an integral part of the national cultural promotion strategy. Through cross-sector collaboration, it is hoped to continually drive innovation and strengthen a sustainable, inclusive, and timely cultural ecosystem in line with evolving times. For information, during the visit, Fadli Zon was accompanied by Special Staff to the Minister of Culture for Media and Public Communication, Muhammad Asrian Mirza; Special Staff for Protocol and Household, Rachmanda Primayuda; Head of the Public Relations and Public Information Bureau, Ibnu Hamad; Acting Centre for Data and Information, Andi Syamsu Rijal; and Head of the Centre for Cultural Media, Abu Chanifah.
