Culture Minister: Public services to remain optimal despite energy efficiency measures
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Culture Minister Fadli Zon has instructed his staff to continue providing optimal services even as the ministry implements a one-day work-from-home system per week as part of energy efficiency efforts.
During the WFH arrangement, public services from the Ministry of Culture will operate online, with expectations that the quality of services provided will remain as high as those delivered through face-to-face meetings.
“The standards for service outputs, whether online or offline, are the same, so there will be no reduction in services, and it encourages the implementation of SPBE, the Electronic-Based Government System,” said Fadli Zon in a statement received in Jakarta on Thursday.
Fadli Zon explained that the Ministry of Culture’s energy efficiency measures follow the instructions of the President of the Republic of Indonesia regarding saving energy consumption as a step to anticipate global geopolitical dynamics causing worldwide energy shortages.
Fadli also advised Ministry of Culture employees to view the upcoming efficiency not merely as budget cuts but as a strategic step to maintain the ministry’s performance stability amid a volatile global situation.
“We must prepare for efficiency. Hope for the best, but also prepare for the worst,” he stated.
In line with the energy efficiency goals, during an online meeting with Ministry of Culture officials on Wednesday (25/3), Fadli also issued instructions regarding restrictions on the operation of electronic devices and official vehicles.
In more detail, Fadli said the one-day WFH policy per week for Ministry of Culture employees will be implemented starting from 1 April 2026.
With these various instructions, the Ministry of Culture’s steps align with President Prabowo Subianto’s directives on energy saving.
The implementation of this policy is further outlined in Circular Letter of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture Number 5 of 2026 concerning the Flexible Implementation of Official Duties for Employees to Achieve Energy Efficiency in the Ministry of Culture Environment.
“I hope that everyone implementing this programme and activities will be as efficient as possible and have a real impact, especially in building our cultural ecosystem,” Fadli Zon concluded his statement.
