Culture Minister Inspects Cirebon Arts Building for Revitalisation Programme
Cirebon (ANTARA) - Culture Minister Fadli Zon inspected the condition of the Nyi Mas Rarasantang Arts Building in Cirebon City, West Java, to prepare a revitalisation programme for the arts and culture facility. During the inspection, the Minister stated that the arts building holds significant value as it has long served as a space for artistic expression in the local area. “This arts building may have witnessed much of the journey of artistic and cultural expression in the past,” he said at the Nyi Mas Rarasantang Arts Building in Cirebon on Friday. According to him, several renowned artists and theatre groups have performed at the location, including Teater Rendra. Fadli assessed that this potential needs to be revived so that the facility can be optimally utilised by artists in Cirebon. He emphasised that the government, through the Ministry of Culture (Kemenbud), will soon prepare revitalisation steps involving cross-sector collaboration. “We want this arts building to also become a cultural hub, a cultural pocket, a platform for artists and cultural figures, especially in Cirebon City and its surroundings,” he said. He explained that the revitalisation will include improvements to the interior, exterior, and facade of the building to make it more representative. In addition, the Minister continued, environmental arrangements around the building will also be carried out to create a more conducive atmosphere. With such arrangements, it is hoped that the arts building can become a centre for cultural activities or a hub for artists and cultural figures. He stated that these steps align with the Cirebon City Government’s plan to turn the location into a cultural garden, and Kemenbud is ready to support its realisation. “Moreover, the Cirebon Mayor’s plan is also to make this a cultural garden. If it becomes a cultural garden, we can support it,” he added.
