Culture Minister Fadli Zon Hands Over Post-Flood Assistance to Residents in Aceh Tamiang
Culture Minister Fadli Zon visited several historic sites in Aceh Tamiang and handed over government-provided post-disaster recovery assistance to local residents following floods. The points referred to include areas around the Istana Banuaraja site and Sekolah Inspirasi Bangsa. “Observing the spirit of the people, from elders to children, we are confident that we can rise, stay optimistic, and recover quickly and strongly,” Fadli said in a statement received in Jakarta on Sunday. Fadli’s arrival together with the aid distributed constitutes support for the recovery process in flood-affected areas to continue sustainably. The aid given symbolically includes rendang and support for temporary shelters (huntara) for flood-affected communities. Through this support, it is hoped that everyday community activities, the preservation of cultural sites, and educational activities in the area can return to normal and operate optimally. Closing the series of his visits, the Culture Minister reiterated his belief that Aceh Tamiang communities have a strong spirit and solidarity to rise from the disaster. He also said that the central government, local governments, ministries and agencies, and various elements of society will continue to work together in a collaborative effort to support the recovery in the region so that communities can recover quickly and strongly. The Ministry of Culture remains committed to accompanying efforts to restore cultural sites affected by the disaster, while also paying attention to the sustainability of local livelihoods, which are an important part of the cultural ecosystem. Through various preservation, restoration, and community empowerment programs, it is hoped that cultural heritage will remain safeguarded and also improve the welfare of the community as guardians of culture.
