Jakarta - Culture Minister Fadli Zon called upon young people to preserve Indonesian cultural heritage whilst attending a training programme for 1,000 Genjring Party dancers at Graha Sabha Gema Sadhana in Jakarta on Saturday, 28 February.

He remarked that the participation of dancers from various studios and communities in the event reflected discipline, enthusiasm, and commitment to safeguarding cultural identity and values through the art of dance.

“Indonesian culture is extraordinarily rich. We possess hundreds of regional languages and thousands of ethnic groups. For this reason, culture must be protected and advanced, including through artistic expressions such as the dance we witness today,” he stated.

The minister described the training programme, organised by the central leadership of the Sanathana Dharma Community Movement for Indonesian Heritage (Gema Sadhana), as a concrete step in preserving traditional dance art.

Ratu Ratna Dewi Kartika, chair of the event organising committee and chairman of Gentra Lestari Budaya, stated that the 1,000 Genjring Party Dancer Training represented a collaboration among art studios in the Greater Jakarta region to motivate young artists to achieve excellence.

“This is both a source of pride and great motivation for young artists to continue creating and achieving,” she said.

Kobalen, chairman of the Gema Sadhana central leadership, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to providing suitable space and support for cultural and artistic talent. As a community organisation actively promoting Indonesian cultural and spiritual values, Gema Sadhana seeks to create cross-generational collaborative spaces to preserve culture.
