Culture Minister and Danantara Explore Collaboration to Utilise Assets as Museums
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Culture Minister Fadli Zon has initiated plans for collaboration between the Ministry of Culture and Danantara to utilise cultural heritage buildings owned by PT Jasa Raharja as museums in Jakarta’s Old Town area.
Minister Fadli explained that the Jasa Raharja building has significant potential to be developed as a photography museum as well as a film museum, which would form part of the cultural ecosystem in Jakarta’s Old Town, while supporting the strengthening of history-based tourism destinations.
“We do not yet have a representative film museum or photography museum. However, we have many assets and historical riches in those fields, but no adequate space to display them. Film is a very effective showcase of culture because it contains various cultural elements such as performing arts, theatre, dance, music, language, oral traditions, fashion, and even cuisine,” he said in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Friday.
According to him, with the presence of a photography museum or film museum, visitors will be able to see the narrative of the development of Indonesian filmmaking and photography.
The Culture Minister stated that the Ministry of Culture will collaborate and synergise with all ministries, institutions, SOEs, private sector entities, as well as cultural activists and communities in advancing Indonesian culture.
Through cross-sector collaboration, historic assets owned by SOEs managed by Danantara can be optimised into productive and educational public spaces.
Meanwhile, the President Director of Jasa Raharja, Muhammad Awaluddin, expressed support for the collaboration plan as part of optimising the utilisation of company assets that have high historical value.
“This building is not only a company asset but also part of a historical heritage that needs to be preserved and utilised productively. We welcome this collaboration plan as an effort to provide cultural spaces that are beneficial to the public,” he said.
Through this collaboration plan, it is hoped that the utilisation of historic assets will not only focus on preservation but also be able to provide added value as an integrated education, culture, and tourism destination in the Jakarta Old Town area.
